History
The Tutor, Sheila-May Green gained her first fashion qualifications, City and Guilds, Creative Fashion, in 1984. and started a business designing and making lingerie, individual bridal gowns and evening dresses with some of her designs being featured on the cover of the national 'You and Your Wedding' bridal magazine, and other publications. After 15 successful years she felt it was time to pass on the knowledge she had acquired as a designer and resolved to become a teacher. She qualified with a BA(Hons) in Fashion Design Technology and a PGCE in Secondary Education and qualified as a textiles teacher 10 years ago. As part of the degree course Sheila-May spent time working at Hardy Amies where she learned some of the couturiers techniques. . Her shop, Sheila May Couture, opened in Birmingham, in 2007 selling communion dresses; prom dresses and bespoke bridal gowns. Still working as a teacher, she holds a part time position as Head of Textiles at a local secondary school
