Body language - what do you really think? Is it a load of old heehaw and hype? Or, is an understanding of non-verbal communication (including body language) a key skill to learn for work, relationships and our personal life?
We think it’s pretty useful, no, we think it is vital to excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Body language is about reading, observing, tuning in to another persons emotions and feelings. As well as ensuring what you are thinking, feeling and saying MATCHES how you are behaving.
The thing is, non-verbal communication happens F-A-S-T, really fast.
While we are listening to the words our brains, through all our senses are taking in the whole picture – we’re processing, watching, making sense of everything coming at us.
And sometimes, because you understand the non verbals, you can ‘hear’ what a person is actually trying to say even though they may be speaking words that are different.
This course is not full of ‘when people do this, they actually mean this’ or how to spot deceit and lies.
It’s about forming deep, meaningful relationships, using your own body language to create safe environments for others and to read others to help and support them (we’ll leave the ‘flirting’ and dating body language to those experts – although we do touch on it somewhat!).
