Bra Making - Beginner Understanding manufacture techniques for lingerie, is crucial to design and technical innovation. High quality and a good design encourages shoppers to choose a brand time after time, while innovation in design encourages consumers to look beyond simply purchasing a replacement bra. Course aims This course provides delegates with the opportunity to understand and explore manufacture techniques specifically for lingerie in order to fully realise the potential of their own design and development opportunities. Attendees will gain knowledge of and experience on industrial machinery in order to produce a series of lingerie pieces from basic construction to more advanced methods.
Objectives The course includes: • Practical sewing sessions. • Exploration of manufacture techniques for lingerie • Construction methods for soft and wired lingerie styles • An overview of the components, fabrics, pattern shapes and cutting methods in relation to manufacture • Lingerie construction from design to first sample Learning outcomes At the end of the course delegates will be able to: • Understand, and gain experience of, industrial machinery specific to lingerie manufacture. • Gain an appreciation of pattern shapes, fabric types and uses, and lingerie components and application. • Produce soft and wired lingerie styles to a professional standard. • Understand construction methods and variables such as elastic tension and areas of additional support, i.e. taping underarms or around cups. Delivery The course will be delivered at De Montfort University over three days and includes practical sewing sessions in the machine room. Students will be able to use the knowledge gained and apply it to working in design and technical fields or to further understand bra design through manufacture. Course price £ 850
