No Entry Level requirments but there is recommended equipment: A propelling pencil (5mm) with hard leads (2H) A set square, preferably metric (Morplan Grader Square is good) A French curve, around 30cm long (Morplan or Rotring) A pair of reasonably good quality kitchen scissors for paper or card (perhaps 15cm blades or longer)

Laura has worked on the development of an integral support nightwear range for a specialist fit retailer, as well as developments for maternity and mastectomy lingerie brands, underwire developments with leading component suppliers, swimwear for the plus cup size and core size markets.

Bra Pattern Cutting & Grading From design concept to the finished garment it is key to understand the technical principles behind wired and non-wired bra styles. Understanding the development of the block pattern from the natural body shape the bra has to fit to allows for further innovation both technically and in design. Course aims From the complicated 3D shape that a bra has to fit and support, to grading techniques for core sizes, this course allows delegates the opportunity to develop their understanding of bra design through technical realisation.

The course includes: • Pattern and grading theory • Practical cutting exercises • Design development for the Core Size lingerie market • Technical developments and innovations including product recognition and brand awareness Learning outcomes At the end of the course delegates will be able to: • Understand Lingerie development from a technical perspective in line with their job role. • Understand key concepts and styles, as well are core characteristics of lingerie. • Gain an appreciation of 3D pattern development through using natural and commercial sizing. • Relate underwire and breast root shape and understand the importance within technical development. • Understand pattern development processes. • Gain an awareness and understanding of grading techniques.
