This course is advanced training for specialist brain injury units or for people who are supporting individuals who have neurological disorders.
Who should attend?All staff who deliver personal care or who are involved in the care planning process.
Proposed Learner Outcomes - The worker must be able to• Develop an understanding of the brain, its parts and its functions
• Identifying what are the most common causes of disorder
• Understand what is an ABI
• Be able to identify different types of ABI
• Understand what is diffuse axonal injury
• Identify the results of ABI on the individual
• Developing empathy for the client with the disorder
• Develop an awareness of traumatic epilepsy
• Understand more about COMA and its measurement indexes
• Understand what approaches are available to help people with ABI
• Know what resources are available for support within the community and multi
disciplinary team
