Course programme

Capital Training (SW) Ltd has designed this two week practical introductory course to equip you with many of the skills required for bricklaying and to build your confidence and knowledge. During the course you will learn the following;

· Correctly mixing mortar and stacking out materials

· Laying bricks to a line by setting out your building lines correctly and gauging your work

· Plumbing your walls correctly and ensuring that they are square

· Building corners

· Using various joint finishes i.e. bucket handle, struck joint and racked out

· The different types of bonds used in 9" and 4" walls

If there is something in particular that you would like to concentrate on during the week, the tutor will do his best to accommodate you; an example of this would be learning how to set out and build garden or conservatory walls. Your tutor will provide you with lots of general building knowledge to help you become competent in many areas of brickwork.

On completion of the course you will receive either a Capital Training (SW) Ltd certificate of competency or OCN Accreditation, helpful notes and photographic portfolio showing the stages of the work you have carried out during the period you have trained with us. Throughout your training all tools and equipment will be fully provided and demonstrated.

What do I need to bring?
