Learning through practical and theory sessions at the College is teamed with work-based experience and training in order to achieve NVQ Level 3 in Brickwork.

About this course
Successful completion of a relevant level 2 qualification. Candidates should have a strong interest in the area of brickwork. You will need to be dedicated and committed to your study and be responsible for your own learning. You will be required to attend an interview with the Work Based Learning team and be asked to complete basic skills assessments in literacy and numeracy followed by a paper based trade test and have completed an NVQ Level 2 in Brickwork. Students on this course are required to be employed in a suitable work placement with a building company.

Course content
NVQ Level 3 in Brickwork
The course teaches complex and decorative brickwork by developing your practical and theoretical skills at the College, together with experience gained in the workplace. Students will need to consider the wider aspects of construction outside their trade area as modules include:
- Schedules and Specifications
- Progress Charts
- Site Supervision
- Health and Safety
As part of the Apprenticeship framework you will also complete Employment Rights and Responsibilities, and Functional Skills Level 2/GCSEs in English and maths.

Considering an apprenticeship?
Many young people look to an apprenticeship to gain valuable skills directly in the workplace.
You can apply for both an apprenticeship, and a full-time course as your back up,
but note that you will need to do some research to find an employer willing to take you on as an apprentice
if you do not already have one.

ensuring you complete section 4 of the form. In order to start your apprenticeship you must have an employer
ready to complete your apprenticeship with.
