Come and learn to play bridge - the most popular indoor game!
Prepared hands and worksheets will be used to introduce bridge concepts and there will be plenty of card play to consolidate learning. Quizzes to complete in class and at home will be distributed and for those with a PC there is the option of downloading a bridge programme for practice.

About this course

- explain the basic rules of bridge
- know what is required to make an opening bid at the one level, and simple responses.
- plan the play of a hand as declarer in no trumps or suit contacts.
- defend the hand, choosing opening leads and use basic defensive signals.

Course programme

From day one you will play cards with a partner and develop your trick-taking, signalling and defensive skills. The second half of the course is devoted to learning how to start and end a simple bidding sequence.

You need only bring note-taking materials. The follow-on course is UBD21 Bridge 1: module 2 - improve your game, starting in January 2019.
