This course is for young people aged 16 - 19. Perhaps you did not do so well in your GCSEs, or have not gained many qualifications. Or it could be that you suffered illness or injury, or moved home and couldn't complete your school year. The Bridging Course is here to get you back to where you want to be, with a full set of qualifications to take you forward. You will join a Bridging group with other young people who have similar stories to you and you will work for a year to achieve the qualifications you need to be successful.

Course programme
You will be studying a full Certificate or Diploma in Level 1 Vocational Studies, as well as English and maths. This includes a huge range of subjects from science to ICT to business and more. Exact course content depends on which campus you study at, but more details will be provided at interview. You will be able to study GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature and GCSE Maths, as long as you already hold minimum Grade D (3) in these subjects, or Functional Skills Level 2 certificates in English and Maths. If you do not hold these qualifications, you can still study the GCSEs if you successfully pass assessment tests during your induction. If it is decided that you are not yet ready to study the GCSEs, you will study Functional Skills English and Maths, with a view to progressing on to GCSE courses the following year. In addition, you will have a weekly tutorial with your own personal tutor and a work experience placement.
