This course explains the differences between the various beer styles around the world, how they evolved and an opportunity to taste a selection. You will be taught by Christine Cryne, a Master Trainer, Member of the British Guild of Beer Writers and Accredited European Beer Consumers Union Judge.

• State the ingredients used in beer• Explain how the ingredients changed over the centuries and the impact on flavour• Both in group discussion and in teams, use this knowledge to describe the beers tasted.

The course is a mix of interaction and practical tastings. There is no work outside the class.
There are no other costs. Tou need to bring a pen and, although there will be a handout, you are welcome to bring along your own paper to take notes.
There is another course on beer:
A trip around the world in beer (Friday 7 July): Beer is the globe’s third favourite drink after water and tea. Although there are plenty of tastes in common, this session will show you why it’s the differences that make beer really interesting.
