About this course

Ideally you should have GCSE English. To apply for this course starting in September 2010, complete a college application form and return it to the college. We will invite you to attend an interview plus a literacy and numeracy assessement from January 2010.

Assessment of your skills

What will I learn?
You will learn to introduce yourself and exchange personal information using numbers, times and dates, about your family, your work and transport, learn how to order a snack and drinks and learn to ask and give information about going out.

Assessment
Examinations are undertaken by approved IBSL (Institute of British Sign Language) examiners. The exam is a one-to-one

Assessment with the examiner (a deaf person), and is a two-way conversation lasting 5 - 7 minutes. Learners must pass the Introduction to BSL exam to progress on to the Foundation course.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
On successful completion of the BSL Introduction course learners may progress to the BLS Foundation course.
