About this course
Our Financial Mathematics degree gives you the practical and theoretical skills that you need to work in the financial industry. We aim to teach you the detailed mathematical background behind the behaviour of portfolios, trading, returns and risk so that you can mathematically determine optimum investment strategies. We also combine this with an understanding of financial techniques and the statistical and numerical modelling used in the finance industry. As the Financial Mathematics degree is more specialised than our Mathematics degree there is a little less opportunity to generalise your study path. However, we do offer the option to study areas allied to Financial Mathematics, such as Number Theory, Algebra, Statistical Modelling, Multivariate Statistics and Linear Optimisation.
We take pride in our student-focused approach to teaching Mathematics. Our School is well regarded for its friendly and professional environment, which allows us to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to be a successful mathematician. We will support you throughout your degree so that you can achieve your full potential.
