In this programme you will gain specialist knowledge of business and management in Korea including modules in accounting, finance, managerial economics, marketing, corporate governance, research methods and international business strategy, as well as a deep understanding of Korean history, culture and language. The third year of study is normally spent abroad at a partner institution in Korea.

Course programme

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a current student and enrolled on this programme prior to 2018/19, you can find the relevant programme structure here.

This is a 4-year programme. You will spend 3 years studying on campus, while normally spending Year 3 overseas allocated at a partner institution in Korea. Students take 120 credits per year composed of core and optional modules, which allows for students to design their own intellectual journey while maintaining a strong grasp of the fundamentals.

The programme has been designed so that second and third year modules build on modules taken in earlier years. In your final-year you will complete an Independent Study Project or Dissertation on an agreed topic in International Management.

If selecting a language option at a non-beginner level, please contact for details of the language placement test prior to the start of Term 1.

Year One
  • Management in Japan and Korea: Domestic and International Developments
  • Introduction to accounting
  • Principles and management of marketing
  • Quantitative and analytical techniques for managers
  • Organisational Behaviour
  • Korean 1
Year Two
  • International business strategy
  • Managerial economics
  • Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Qualitative and case study research
  • Korean 2

In addition to the above modules, students select one of the below modules:

  • International marketing 1: the environment
  • Understanding company accounts and reports

Alternatively, students may select an Open Option module to the value of 15 credits

Year Three

Students will usually spend Year 3 at a partner institution in Korea.

Year Four
  • Independent study project in international management

In addition to the above module, students are placed in an appropriate language module below, to the value of 30 credits:

*Please note that K304: Korean Conversation 155900915 and K303: Korean Composition 155900722 must be taken together. Students may be placed in a different language module(s) to the below, depending on their level of language proficiency.
