Introducing your course
This three-year BSc allows you to gain an in-depth knowledge of oceanography; the study of the ocean and its relationship to the planet, whilst complimenting your study with modules in physical geography. You will gain a full picture of the Earth from its core, through to the ocean and land right up to the atmosphere.
Taught by expert staff, you will be part of an innovative research environment with access to cutting edge facilities including our dedicated research vessels. Fieldwork is an integral part of the course and students are coached in a variety of current fieldwork techniques in a number of exciting locations. In year three you will complete an independent project in one of our research groups.
Typically 25 per cent of your modules will be based in the School of Geography and Environment. Oceanography will still be your major subject and you will experience a good multidisciplinary approach to our marine environment.
All of our Oceanography courses are accredited by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
