BSL Level 6 (NVQ)

Course review:

Course participants will need to posses the ability to develop their competence to the extent of understanding and producing in depth, complex sign vocabulary. Including grammar, linguistics, regional dialect, humour and sarcasm.

This course is suited for those who work, or at the very least interact with Deaf on a regular basis and whose possible aim is to become interpreters and translators.

Course content includes:

Unit 601 (Receptive) Understand complex BSL in a range of work/social situations.

Unit 602 (Productive) Use complex BSL in a range of work/social situations.

Topics include: discussions, negotiations and debates, as well as handling a wide range of social interactions in different settings. Candidates also need to apply their skills, using complex language by giving clear and concise presentations. After initial language coaching, the portfolio building involves collecting external filmed evidence.
