About this course
4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language. Alternatively, BTEC First Diploma/GNVQ Intermediate at Merit grade or above plus GCSE English grade C or above. In addition, you must pass trials with Wealdstone FC. How long is the course? This is a two-year full-time course. Cost: Approx. £25 plus visits. Kit Cost £180.

Extra Curricular Activities
All students can add to their main programme of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Education and employment.
All students must be willing to participate in all Sports, Recreation and Leisure activities involved in the course
What is the course about?
This qualification is the equivalent of 2 A Levels. The BTEC National Certificate in Sport is made up of 12 units - four common units which everyone takes and eight specialist units.

This course is only available to students who have been successful in the Wealdstone Football Club trials.
This is only available to male footballers at present.
Study Skills
As part of Stanmore College Sixth Form's excellent support network, Literacy and Numeracy support is available to any student enrolled on a course, depending on the student's individual needs (determined during Induction by an assessment). Students can attend either one-to-one or group sessions in a friendly, stimulating and supportive environment.
Additional Studies
Students will have the opportunity to take or retake GCSE English and/or Maths in their second year. Along side your academic course you will have the opportunity to gain a coaching qualification.

Research Skills
Students will be entered for a Level 2 qualification in ICT as a means of improving their computing and presentation skills.

How will you be assessed?
The BTEC National Certificate is divided into 12 units. All units are assessed and graded, Pass, Merit and Distinction. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded and is equivalent to two A Levels.
