Course programme

During the course you will study a number of topics including Communication, Equality, Diversity and Rights, Health and Safety, Lifespan Development, Anatomy and Physiology, Individual Needs, Individual Rights, Creative and Therapeutic Activities and the Impact of Diet on Health

Course is assessed by written coursework, practical tasks and includes work experience placement currently completed in block weeks.


Up to 70 hours’ work experience placement in Health and Social Care sector including Nursing Homes, Nurseries and Schools. Students are encouraged to source their own placements in a field that interests them.


Progression on to level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care/Health Studies or another level 3 course. On completion of level 3 opportunities for progression include Degrees in Adult Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Midwifery, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Theatre Practitioner, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Paramedic, Youth Work and Foundation Degrees in Health and Social Care
