What you will do
· Experiment with a wide range of photographic techniques and processes, chemical and digital based
· Explore photography with studio, location, fashion, documentary and experimental imagery
· Learn to use computers and Photoshop as a creative application within photography
· Learn how to create new ideas/concepts through the design process
· Build on historical and contextual understanding
· Create and understand genres of photography through exciting workshops on location and within the studio
· Explore the work of photographers through educational visits to local and national galleries
· Create your own final major project that is individual to your concepts and technical expertise
· Build a personal and creative portfolio that exemplifies your talents
· Discover your role as a photographer through a clear career path onto Higher Education or self employment
Assessment
All units will be internally assessed, with some units being verified through National Standard Sampling by the Awarding Body.

The course is complemented with AS Fine Art in the 1st year. This can be converted to A2 qualification in the 2nd year (subject to agreed criteria of achievement).
What can I do next?
The course will help prepare you for progression onto Degree, Foundation Degree or BTEC HND programmes in photography, film and TV, digital, fashion, editorial or advertising photography and related programmes of study. In some cases, students progress into self employment within the photographic industry or, as assistants to photographers and apprenticeships etc.
Successful completion of the course will enable students to take part in the College Compact arrangement to progress to higher level courses within the college.
