About this course
At least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including one from Maths, English Language and Science (A-C in GCSE PE is preferred.)
OR a merit/distinction in a BTEC First in a related area, plus grade C or above in GCSE English Language.

What will I be studying on the course?
You will be learning about various aspects of the sports industry including:
· Leadership and sports coaching
· Dealing with injury and rehabilitation
· What is a 'healthy' diet?
· Ways to test the fitness of others
· The psychology of an athlete's mind
· How to participate and officiate in a variety of team and individual sports.
What sort of things will I be doing on the course?
You will:
· Lead sports activities in your local schools and gain coaching qualifications while you study
· Assess a variety of injuries and design rehabilitation programmes for different athletes.
· Create dietary plans for a variety of clients and look at the benefits of a healthy diet
· Complete a variety of fitness tests and create a training programme to improve different aspects of fitness for clients of varying age, ability etc
· Look at the affects of stress and anxiety on performance and plan a psychological skills training programme for a client.
· Assess your ability and improve your skills, techniques and tactics in a variety of sports.
How will I be assessed on this course?
Your course tutors will assess you through a range of written and practical projects as well as oral presentations. There are no written examinations on this course.
What sort of things can I go on to do once I've completed this course?
· You could go on to university to study for a degree
· Work in a fitness centre
· Become a sports coach
· Work as a lifeguard
· Join the armed forces
· Other sport related areas
Oliver Kimber from North Walsham High gained a Distinction/ Merit and has gone on to Bedford University to study Sports Science.
