Who is this course for?
This course has been designed for learners with significant life experience who wish to return to learning and will provide an interesting and stimulating first taste of working in a Health and Social Care setting, e.g. care support worker, or for those who wish to progress onto a Caring or Access course at a higher level.

What will I learn?
Working in Health and Social Care is all about working with people, so it is very important that you have good communication skills to make people feel safe, involved and cared for.All individuals have a variety of needs and will make life choices based on these. This course will look at lifestyle choices and help you to explore the holistic needs of individuals.Within the course you will gain the opportunity to develop an understanding of how the body works by looking at basic anatomy and physiology. You will learn about routine measurements that health workers may carry out and potential malfunctions of body systems.

Assessment
There are no exams for this course. All units are assessed through assignments which are set and worked on throughout the course.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
You will have a greater ability to access work in the Health and Social Care sector or you may wish to progress to other courses. Successful completion of the BTEC Certificate with Merit / Distinction and tutor recommendation may give you the necessary qualification to progress to the BTEC National Award in Social Care or NVQ courses.
