This is an ideal first qualification in Art and Design, which could provide an opportunity into employment or further education.

Course Units The course is based on practical assignments giving students the opportunity to develop skills in a range of art and design related areas including:

· 2D and 3D communication
· Vocational contexts
· Explore and develop ideas (FMP)*
· Produce outcome (FMP)*
· Working to graphical design briefs
* Final major project

Your course is enhanced by:

· Functional Skills: Information Technology and Application of Number
· An opportunity to re-sit Mathematics or English GCSE (for those who have achieved a grade D at GCSE)

Assessment Your work will be assessed through a range of practical projects, assignments and case studies. Two of the units are combined in one assignment, which will form a final major project to be undertaken at the end of the programme.

Further Opportunities
· Progression onto the BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design
· BTEC National Diploma in Media, Interactive Media or A Levels
· Employment in a wide range of careers related to Art and Design

Entry Requirements
You will normally need at least one of the following:

Mature students without formal qualifications are welcome to join the course following a successful interview. An equipment list is available on request prior to interview but money will be requested for trips and additional art materials during the course.
