The BTEC First Diploma in Business is designed to develop your practical business skills which will help you progress to more advanced courses or enter industry with a good grounding in business studies.

The areas you will study include:

· Developing customer relations
· Investigating financial control
· Exploring business purposes
· Business online
· Personal selling
· Starting up a business

The course will allow you to explore a range of real life businesses where you will analyse situations and come up with problem solving solutions. You will also explore new business opportunities. We offer a wide range of trips and residentials which in the past have included trips to Europe and New York and work-related visits to local and national businesses.

You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include Functional Skills and can also include more specialist awards that are relevant to the subject you are studying.

How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed during the course through project work, assignments, and presentations. There are no examinations.

On successful completion you may:

Progress to a BTEC National Diploma in Business, or another Level 3 course in a related subject area.

Or

Start an Advanced Apprenticeship in Accountancy, Customer Services or Retail Operations. As well as learning, you will develop the skills needed for employment in your chosen sector
and earn a salary - see page 26 for further details.

Or

Enter employment where your sound grounding in business principles will benefit your career.

Achieving this qualification will give you the equivalent of 5
GCSEs at grades A*-C.
