BTEC First in Health & Social Care
This is a one year course of study and an exciting subject for students who are interested in working with people in a wide range of settings. We offer you the opportunity to study life in depth and the content is varied and interesting.
This qualification is equivalent to 4 GCSEs graded A*- C and successful completion of the course with a merit or distinction grade qualifies you for entry to the BTEC National Certificate in Health & Social Care or the AS Level in Health & Social Care or any other level 3 course.
Teaching methods vary from discussion and independent research projects to multi-media applications. We aim to create a positive, creative and friendly environment where students are motivated and feel confident to express empathy and understanding with a diverse range of human needs.
What will I study on this course?
You will study the following units:
Within this subject we enhance our learning experience through work experience. During this course you will complete 60 hours of work experience in a care setting of your choice. This could be in a nursery, care home or primary school. You will attend talks from visiting professionals andvisit exhibitions, conferences and health fairs.
