BTEC First Diploma in Music (Level 2

This course is ideal for learners who are interested in gaining theoretical research and practical skills required to use computers for music creation, recording techniques in the 24 track studios and develop an understanding of the workings of the music industry.
Students should have a keen interest in all aspects of music production with the emphasis on music technology which will allow them to develop projects and create music for film
Entry RequirementsAt least two GCSE's at grades D to G.
Everyone attends an interview and must show a positive attitude and an interest in Music.
A willingness to learn and want to be successful on the Diploma also required.
Course Content
Units offered include:·Exploring computer systems used by musicians
·Planning and creating a music product
·Exploring the music profession
·Exploring musical composition
·Exploring an area of music
·Producing a musical recording

This is a one year course where students attend college for three or four days a week.
Students also have the opportunity to take part in trips to music studios and live music events.
How will I be assessed?
Progress is continually assessed through completion of creative production projects, practical assignments and written assignments in each area of the course.
What can I do next?
Successful completion of the course will give learners the opportunity to progress to the National Certificate Music Technology (Level 3)
