The First Diploma in Outdoor Activities will give you the opportunity to
explore the key themes and skills required for a career in the outdoor
industry. It aims to provide a broad programme of study, which is directly related to the changing needs of employers in a growing industry. You will study two core units and four specialist units.

The core units are:

· The body in sport (outdoor)
· Health, safety and injury in sport (outdoor).

The specialist units are selected by the College and could include:
· The sports industry (outdoor)
· Preparation for sport (outdoor)
· Practical outdoor and adventurous activities
· Work-based project in sport (outdoor)
· Leading outdoor and adventurous activities
· Expedition experience.

You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course. These will include qualifications in Functional Skills and can also include more specialist awards that are relevant to the subject you are studying.

How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed by coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations, and practical activities.

Progression
On successful completion of this course you may progress to a Level 3, BTEC National Diploma in Outdoor Activities or another Level 3 course in a related subject area such as sport or Public Services.

Achieving this qualification will give you the equivalent of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C.
