You will normally attend college on four days of each week.
Duration

Description of the Course
A course for school leavers who want to work in the uniformed services. You will have the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to improve your chances of selection and career progression within the armed forces, emergency services, (police, fire, ambulance), security and prison services.
Course content
Subjects include:

· The Public Services
· Public Service Skills
· Public Service Fitness
· Sport and Recreation
· Land Navigation with Map and Compass
· Expedition Skills.

Assessment
Students are required to complete a portfolio (file) containing evidence of assignments, practical performance, presentations, group exercises and discussions.

The course is ideal for school leavers wishing to learn more about the public services.
Entry requirements
A minimum of Grade D for 2 or more GCSEs (English essential) or you will have successfully completed a level 1 programme. You may also be asked to demonstrate your commitment and skills in an interview.
What can I do after this course?
With further training or study, students go into a wide range of public sector occupations such as the emergency services, armed forces, security, prison service, customs and excise. Students can also progress onto the BTEC National Certificate.

You will have the opportunity to experiencea residential outdoor adventure visit during the year, which aims to develop your teamwork, communication and leadership skills.
