You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.

Where can it lead?
This course can lead to higher education to undertake a counselling diploma or degree. It should enable enhanced practice skills and help career development.
What will I study?
A range of subjects including: counselling skills and theory; human growth and development; understanding stress; ethics and values in relation to counselling and self development.
How will I be taught?
You will study through group work, Pair work, co-counselling as well as studying theory. You will also do reflective writing and self development activities.
How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment by completing a range of assignments in addition to self, peer and tutor assessment processes.

Learning support is available as required.
