Course Description
The course consists of six modules taught over one year. The BTEC First Diploma is a Level 2 course that is the equivalent of 4 GCSEs. The course is both practically and theoretically based.You will learn a variety of leadership/coaching skills, and conduct a series of fitness tests. You will be taught how to plan a sports diet and a training programme and be able to evaluate practical performance.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs Grade D, incl. English. (Maths D for some courses). Or Pass in Level 1 Vocational Qual., Merit for BTECs, plus Key Skills Level 1 Comm. (App. of Number for some courses) or equivalent. Diplomas require Functional Skills in ICT, Maths and English.

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: Each module will be assessed through a series of assignments, such as posters, presentations, case studies and word processed assignments. You will be expected to represent one of the College teams and take part in voluntary work in the community.

Progression Routes: Sports Coach, Leisure Assistant or on to a Level 3 Sport and Public Services Course.
