BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business

This course provides students with a specialist vocational education. It offers a strong, sector-related emphasis on practical business skills and on facilitating the development of requisite knowledge and understanding. The qualification provides a thorough grounding in key concepts and practical skills. It is comprised of 8 units in Year 1 (Level 4) and 8 units in Year 2 (Level 5), with each level designed for one year of study. Each academic year consists of two semesters and students will, on average, be required to register for 4 modules/units per semester. Each module class meets once a week and most sessions are 3 hours long. There is a compulsory module in Student Development throughout the course. Class sizes do not normally exceed 30 students. Students do not need to purchase their own textbooks as we provide eTextbooks for each module. Those who successfully complete the HND may progress onto our one-year BA (Hons) Business and Management top-up course, which is validated by the University of Northampton. All classes take place at Birkbeck College (Bloomsbury campus) and students have full access to library facilities.
