During the year you will have to do assignments in each of the unit areas. These will be marked by your tutor and must be kept in a special folder called your portfolio. Some of the units will be externally marked by the BTEC awarding body. As well as taught lessons you will be encouraged to work on your own in one of our Learn Resource Centres. You will also be introduced to electronic mail.

BTEC INTRODUCTORY DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS, RETAIL & ADMINISTRATION A One Year Full-Time Programme Of Study
Usually a profile of grade E's at GCSE including English and maths.

Who Is The Course Suitable For ? The course will appeal to students who:
- have a keen interest in Business Administration or Retail and how it is operated
- enjoy studying a subject that is relevant to their own lives and experience and want to find out more about business through personal investigation
- are interested in developing an understanding of how businesses work, how they are organised and how they control their money
- want to study a course that is active and enjoyable
- want to move on to a related career or further training in business

What Does The Course Include ? The course is designed to offer you Introductory units in Business, Retail and Administration. You will study 3 core units:
- Starting work in Business, Retail and Administration
- Working in Business, Retail and Administration
- Introducing Customer Care
In addition you will study two personal skills
- Personal Effectiveness
- Financial Management
You will also study 3 vocational units which are
- Ensuring Personal Health and Safety at Work
- Communicating Effectively at Work
- Introduction to Administration
In addition you will study a combination of Basic Skills in:
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Information Technology
