What will I study?
The aim of this course is to give students an introduction to knowledge and skills that are needed for a career in IT. The course also gives students the chance to develop personal qualities which will be important when at work.
How can I progress?
This qualification provides a sound basis for further studies at Level 2 in ICT or BTEC First Diploma for IT Practitioners. There is also the potential to progress on to study other subjects such as Business or PC Maintenance/User Support. The units also prepares students for employment as a computer user. It allows students to gain a recognised qualification that can be used to support applications to study at level 2.

Course Structure
The course is made up of 8 units: three core units, two personal skills units and three additional units. The additional units enable students to study particular areas in more depth. Core Units: *Starting to Work in the IT Industry, *Working in the IT Industry, *Developing Skills in IT. Personal Skills Units: *Personal Effectiveness, *Social Responsibility at Work. Additional Units: *Digital Devices, *Using the Internet, *IT Applications. Students will complete coursework and do a project set by the Examination Board. Another important part of this course is Key Skills - which will provide essential Maths, English and IT skills needed in any future job.

*General office clerk positions - in any company that has an IT based office but students must realise that they are not tied down to looking for specific office jobs as, for example, obtained skills will be useful in an office on a building site or in an office in a shop.
