Post -16 students who want to go to university and who have an academic interest in Sport and those wanting a career in the sports industry. BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (90 credit) is designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for successful employment in sport and recreation industries. It also prepares you for a Higher National or undergraduate degree programme in physical education, sports science, sports development or sports coaching. On completion of the two year programme the Level 3 Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A levels. It would be an advantage to have previous experience playing in competitive sport.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?Applicants are required to have 6 grade A-Cs at GCSE level including grade 'B' in English, Maths and preferably PE. Extended Diploma " You must have 6 grade A-Cs at GCSE level including a B grade in either Science, English, or maths
What will I study ?The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport covers 18 units of the two years. Subjects cover 'anatomy and physiology', 'training and testing for health and fitness', 'coaching and leading sports and exercise activities' and 'work experience in sport'. Applicants have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience as part of the curriculum. Applicants will be attached to an academy relevant to their sporting preference.
How will I be assessed ?This course is based on 100% Coursework which is internally assessed and internally and externally verified, before certification is awarded. Additional short courses are offered alongside this course and can also be part of the course where applicable.
