What is the course about?
This course is the equivalent to one AS/A2 Level. The course consists of 6 separate units running over two years.
A BTEC National Award is a practical, work related course. Students will learn on the course by completing projects and assignments and doing practical workshops that are based on realistic situations, activities and demands within the world of music production. Students will learn new concepts and techniques within music technology, creating their own music, learning about the music industry, programming and recording techniques.
The units are varied so that students can develop their skills in as many ways as possible. In each module students will complete a series of assignments (usually three to four each year), which are designed to test their creativity, their understanding of the concepts and techniques explored in class and their practical application of recording and music technology.

Creating a Music Product
Planning a Music Recording
Sound Recording Techniques
The Sound and Music Industry
The Music Freelance World
Music Sequencing
This course can be studied in combination with three additional A Levels or a BTEC Nation Certificate or BTEC National Diploma in another subject.

Study Skills
As part of Stanmore College's excellent support network, Literacy and Numeracy support is available to any student enrolled on a course, depending on the student's individual needs (determined during Induction by an assessment). Support is provided through the Skills for Life Study Plus Programme. Students can attend either one-to-one or group sessions in a friendly, stimulating and supportive environment.
