This fast track intensive course aims to develop the dancer's contemporary technique, choreography and improvisation skills. Dancers will study contemporary technique as the basis of their technical training but will also have opportunities to fuse dance styles together such as street, hip hop, Latin etc. Choreographers studied include Martha Graham, Christopher Bruce and Matthew Bourne. Dancers have the opportunity to create their own pieces of choreography as well as being led in choreography by the tutor.
Dancers will also take on a unit entitled 'The Health Performer' giving an understanding of the human body and basic anatomy, physiology and the principles of fitness training.

Qualification explained
BTECs are practical, work-related courses. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start a career. The BTEC National Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels which means when you have finished the course you can choose whether to get a job straight away or go into Higher Education first. A BTEC National Award is equivalent to one A Level so it can be combined with other subjects. A BTEC First Diploma introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification. A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* to C and is normally taken at college as a full-time course.
