Duration: 1 year
You will learn about the hospitality industry as a whole, different sectors, how they operate and link together and how individual hospitality businesses work. In other units you will study customer service, team work, supervision and leadership. You will be able to demonstrate your skills in various practical and real situations- for example when planning and running a hospitality event with your colleagues. Work experience is also offered and we are pleased to have links with Croydon businesses. Relevant college trips are organised to support the various units.
This is a one year course and must be taken alongside A levels or BTEC National programmes. It is a particularly useful addition to the BTEC National Travel and Tourism course. You are strongly advised to consider adding a language to your programme - discuss languages courses with us. Assessment is through coursework and projects.

Qualification explained
BTECs are practical, work-related courses. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start a career. The BTEC National Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels which means when you have finished the course you can choose whether to get a job straight away or go into Higher Education first. A BTEC National Award is equivalent to one A Level so it can be combined with other subjects. A BTEC First Diploma introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced work-related qualification. A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grades A* to C and is normally taken at college as a full-time course.
