Course programme
What do you think about Terminal 5? A sixth airport for London? Congestion charging? Would you holiday in the Antarctic? How about working in one of the world's biggest industries? Using discussion, research, visits and videos you will explore technological and socio-economic reasons for the growth in travel and tourism.
This is a person-centred industry; you'll be encouraged to acquire customer service skills and practice them on work experience, and you will research the world of marketing; exploring advertising, sales and promotion. You will use ICT and individual research to generate an in-depth study of two worldwide destinations. In year two you will work as part of a team to plan and run a tourism event and with peers will develop and run your own adventure tourism residential project. Planning will help you polish your presentation skills. This course will provide you with many transferable skills - a valuable asset wherever your career path takes you. Finally, you will examine the effects of tourism on the world's people and the environment, studying the latest development in a rapidly changing world. Sounds exciting? It is!
