About this course

Potential students should be at least 16 years and have one of the following qualifications: First Certificate in Engineering OR Four GCSEs at grades A, B or C OR City & Guilds Craft Studies or Craft Practice, OR equivalent qualifications. Mature students may be accepted, after interview, even if they do not meet the above qualifications.

Course content:

Entry requirements:
Potential students should be at least 16 years and have one of the following qualifications:
First Certificate in Engineering
OR Four GCSEs at grades A, B or C
OR City & Guilds Craft Studies or Craft Practice,
OR equivalent qualifications.
Mature students may be accepted, after interview, even if they do not meet the above qualifications.

Progression opportunities:
Completion of the National Certificate will provide entry to the BTEC Higher National Certificate programme.

Free study and financial support:
Many part-time students at South Tyneside College do not have to pay for their course. We may also be able to help you with some of the extra costs associated with college, eg travel, childcare, equipment, books etc. In addition, depending on the course and the number of hours a week you study, you may be eligible for an Adult Learners†Grant.
