What is this course about? This course will help you explore new skills in a number of specialist techniques and approaches in art and design. You will develop your creative potential, improve your understanding of visual language, and experience the growth of your own personal style.

Who is this course for? For people aged 16-18 who want to develop creative skills and train for employment or go on to higher education in art and design. It is aimed at people who are creative, motivated, visually aware and keen to pursue education and a career in art and/or design.

What do I need to get on the course?
· A portfolio of work

4 GCSEs at frade A*-C, including one in Art or a related subject,

BTEC First Diploma with a merit or distinction and key skills at Level 2

What will I study? You follow a broad program of visual communication, both 2D and 3D:

· Drawing

· Painting

· Printmaking

· Sculpture

· Digital design

· Textiles

· Historical and contextual studies

· Photography

· Graphic Design.

Day to day you will engage in practical workshops, lectures, debates, gallery visits and independent research.

What can I do after the course? On completion, you can study our Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art and Design). You may also be eligible to go directly on to other degree, Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma courses at university or College.

How much does the course cost? Home students aged 16-18 do not pay the course fee. Concessionary students aged 19 or over pay a £40 registration annual charge which covers any courses where concessions are available.
