BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS AND LEGAL STUDIES A Two year Full-Time Programme
A BTEC National Diploma is a practical work related course where students learn by completing Business and Legal projects and assignments based on realistic work place situations. The BTEC National Diploma is equivalent to three A levels.

Who Will The Programme Benefit? Studying a combination of business and legal units will benefit those who wish to have a wide range of options for pursuing a career in a business/legal environment. Equally, those wishing to continue to study at a higher level will have the opportunity of achieving qualifications necessary for progression.

What Are The Aims Of The Programme? The programme aims to provide a firm foundation for many areas of business and law and to enable students to build on their natural aptitudes, interests and skills.

What Qualifications Do I Need To Join The Programme? Students should have at least one of the following:
A BTEC First Diploma at merit or distinction
At least five GCSEs at grades A* - C including English

What Will I Do On The Programme? The course is made up of 18 business units - 4 core units and 14 specialist units. The specialist units explore particular topics in depth and will be chosen according to legal content. All students take these 4 core units:
Exploring Business Activity
Investigating Business Resources
Introduction to Marketing
Effective People, Communcation & Information
Optional units are, for example:
Law Making and Legal Systems
Criminal Law Relating to Business
Legal Aspects of Administration
Health and Safety

How Is The Programme Taught And Assessed? A number of different methods are used; you will be a member of a small tutor group carrying out individual and group work. You will be assessed through assignment work.

A Day In The Life Of A Business and Legal Student This could involve:
Carrying out a mock trial
Planning a trip to the Old Bailey, London
Attending a Human resource seminar at a local firm
Applying to university
Becoming a student representative
Setting up a business
Running an advertising campaign
