The BTEC National Diploma in Business is equivalent to 3 A Levels and will provide progression opportunities into Higher Education to do a degree or HND course, or to enter employment at a supervisory level.

Extra Studies
Students have the opportunity to study an AS/A2 Level (where appropriate), or to re-take GCSE's alongside their National Diploma programme. Second year students have the opportunity to develop computerised accounting skills to Pitman SAGE level 3.

What is the course about?
The BTEC National Diploma in Business is made up of 18 units. It presents a varied perspective on all aspects of business. This broad-based business course provides the ideal foundation for more specialised study at a higher level or entry to employment.

Stanmore Sixth Form College reserves the right to select an appropriate pathway depending on available College resources. As well as covering the BTEC National Diploma programme you will develop Key Skills in Information Technology.

Learning Resources
Students are provided with various learning and self-study materials for the BTEC National Diploma. All students have free and open access to the Learning Centre to use the computer and library facilities for their research.

Research Skills
Researching around the subject is an important element of every programme within the Sixth Form College. All Advanced Level students will have the opportunity to develop their skills using both computer and non computer sources. This will lead to entry for the appropriate IT key skills qualification (Level 2/3) during the first year.

What are the course outcomes?

How will you be assessed?
The BTEC Diploma is divided into 18 units. All units will be individually graded Pass (P), Merit (M) or Distinction (D). Overall grades will be calculated from the total points achieved from each unit. Three grades are awarded for the Diploma (eg: PPP, MMP, DDM,DDD).
