The business world is very dynamic and this broad based course will allow you to explore a number of key business areas. It is ideal if you are interested in business studies, but not sure which area to specialise in. It is also an excellent foundation for careers in retail, management, marketing, accountancy, administration and human resources.

This course provides you with a route to higher education for a variety of business related higher education qualifications. The course is made up of 18 units which will give you a comprehensive introduction to essential business topics as well as allowing you to explore specific subjects in greater depth such as finance, marketing, sales and human resources management. We offer a range of trips and visits which in the past have included trips to Europe and an annual visit to a student business conference in New York.

Project work has a strong emphasis on real businesses and enables you to experience the sort of situations that you are likely to meet in the workplace. Your work will develop your research, analytical, creative and problem solving skills and will encourage you to present your ideas persuasively.

You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications
alongside your main course in addition to further developing your
numeracy and communication skills.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continually during the course through project work, assignments and presentations. There are no examinations.

Progression
On successful completion you may:

Progress to a higher education course such as the Foundation Degree in Business, which is run at Weston College in partnership with the University of the West of England or another related degree course. A substantial number of our students
progressed to higher education last year.

Or

Choose from a wide range of career paths in business industry, such as human resources, financial advice, marketing or management.

Achieving this course will give you the equivalent of 3 A Levels and provides entry to study at degree level.
