Course Content: Working in Childcare provides a wealth of employment opportunities and is one of the largest employment sectors in the country. It covers a wide range of career opportunities including teaching, nursery manager, nursery nurse, social services and sociology. This course will give you the skills and knowledge to start a career in childcare. You will put what you've learned in the classroom into practice during work placements.
Whilst you are studying on the course you will learn how to provide positive relationships and environments for children, how to work effectively within legislation to safeguard children and how to provide appropriate play and learning activities. Other optional units available are:
· Promoting Healthy Development and Living for Children and Their Families
· Diet and Nutrition
· Introduction to Playwork
· Modern Beliefs and Religions for the Early Years Practitioner
Special Features: During this course you will be provided with the opportunity to develop a range of skills and experience in preparation for your career in working with children, which employers value. You will do this by undertaking 800 hours in placements in a variety of Early Years settings.
Course Format: Students will learn by Tutor led input, individual self study, group work, learning work and placement. Coursework assessment is in the form of written assignments, projects and presentations.
Progression: Most students progress from this course to university to study teacher training, Early Years and Sociology. Others go directly into employment within the Early Years sector.
