Course programme
On the course you will cover a wide range of mandatory and optional units, including such topics as:
- child development
- play and learning
- health and safety
- speech, language and communication
- supporting literacy and numeracy
- safeguarding
- observation, planning and assessment
- professional practice
Entry Requirements
- FOR FUNDING REASONS, THIS COURSE IS ONLY OPEN TO THOSE AGED 16-18.
- A satisfactory interview. You will need to show that you:- are committed to the course and that you aim to improve your literacy and numeracy skills as you study,- have good school reports for attendance, punctuality and behaviour,- where possible, have evidence of previous experience of working with or caring for children, for example, voluntary groups or work experience
- A minimum of five GCSEs grade A*-C, including English language, and maths at grade D or above, or
- a level 2 qualification at merit or C grade, English level 2 and maths at level 1.
- You will need to have a DBS check (formerly CRB) which the college will pay for.
