Who the Course is For:
School leavers with Grade B and above in Maths, Grade C in English and Double Science, and those that are progressing from BTEC 1st Diploma/GNVQ Intermediate with merit in Maths and Science. Those in work with a good craft qualification such as 236 part 2 or Electronic Servicing 224 or 7261.
Assessment:
Assignment and phase test plus one externally set assignment.
Course Leads To:
This 18 unit qualification is the equivalent of 3 A Levels. Progression is to HNC and Foundation Degrees. Some universities allow this qualification to be used as a direct entry to their degree programmes.
Entry Requirements:
For BTEC Nat Diploma (full time), a BTEC 1st Diploma or GCSE Grade B in Maths, and Grade C or above in Science (double) and English.
Content:
This course is a technician course of two years with units that include Engineering Maths; Engineering Science; Electrical Principles; Electronics; Electrical Technology; Health and Safety. Students will partake in practical and theoretical solutions to electrical and electronic engineering. The units are designed to give a broad range of subjects in electrical and electronic engineering as well as equipping students to broaden their minds to general engineering solutions. The students must realise that there is a wide use of mathematics within this engineering course.
