This is a two-year course that allows progression to a wide range of higher education courses and careers in Engineering.
What will I study?
From the initial concept to the development of the product and its subsequent manufacture, this course introduces students to both traditional techniques and more modern computer-based methods of product design, management and production control.
There are no examinations; progress is determined by assessment of coursework.
Satisfactory completion of a period of relevant work experience is expected in each year of the course.
Students are expected to enrol on the NVQ Level 2 in Engineering (Performing Engineering Operations) as well as the National Diploma. This will be completed in the first year of the Diploma course.
What next?
Students who successfully complete this course may go on to employment in a variety of engineering occupations or may progress on to Higher Education. Previous students have gone on to study for Degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Computerised Production
(CAE), and Design.
