Course Units The course is made up of eighteen units:

· Developing effective communication in health and social care
· Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
· Health, safety and security in health and social care
· Development through the life stages
· Fundamentals of anatomy and physiology for health and social care
· Personal and professional development in health and social care (double unit)
· Sociological perspectives for health and social care
· Psychological perspectives for health and social care
· Caring for children and young people
· Supporting and protecting adults
· Public health
· Physiology of fluid balance
· Physiological disorders
· Nutrition for health and social care
· Mobility for health and social care
· Human inheritance for health and social care
· Competence based vocational experience for health and social care
· Vocational experience for health and social care

Students will be required to complete a minimum of 300 hours' work experience in four different care settings.

Assessment All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.

Further Opportunities Students may progress to Higher Education to study nursing, midwifery, medical science and investigations, paramedic and other professions allied to medicine.
