The BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts is a broad-based
vocational course designed to give you the skills to either enter the
performing arts industry or gain access to higher education.

The topics you will study include:

· Musical theatre
· Acting (stage, film and TV)
· Singing
· Movement
· Dance
· Physical theatre
· Historical context of the performing arts
· Technical theatre and costume
· Performing arts business
· Professional practice.

There is a theoretical and an extremely large practical content to
this course. Public performances of a professional standard are regularly presented at the Blakehay and Playhouse Theatres in Weston-super-Mare as well as other national performances.

You can gain additional qualifications alongside this course, including qualifications in Functional Skills and specialist awards relevant to your subject.

How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed on a continuous basis through practical and written assignments and ongoing assessment by staff and external moderators.

Achieving this qualification will give you the equivalent of 3 A Levels and provide entry to study at degree level.
