About this course

You will need to be aged 16+ and have 35+ GCSE points or a BTEC First Diploma in Performing Arts at a merit or distinction grade. You will be required to complete an induction period and interview to help identify your level of performing art skills.

Introduction:
A BTEC National Diploma is a practical, work-related course valued by employers and higher education institutions. You learn by completing projects and assignments based on realistic work place situations. This is an Advanced Level course which is equivalent to three A levels.

Study Mode & Location:
This two year full-time course will be held at Preston College, St Vincent`s Road, Fulwood, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
You must pass 18 units in order to acheive this qualification. These consist of units in:

You will end your first year with a public musical theatre performance at the Charter Theatre in Preston. During the second semester of the second year of this course you will be working with a professional choreographer, contracted to produce a dance show. Ending your second year by producing and performing in your own show with peers.

Assessment:
Assessment is by practical coursework, a written portfolio and graded public performances.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Successful completion of this course allows progression to Degrees or Higher National Diploma`s in Musical Theatre. You will be qualified to apply for jobs in performing arts and the entertainment sector.

How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with an Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
