Course Description:
This course is ideal for complete beginners/anyone who is passionate about taking photographs using traditional and digital technology. This course is perfect for 16-18 year olds who have just left school and enjoy creative subjects.

Description Breakdown:
You will look at landscape, portraits, still life, experimental, documentary, advertising and abstract photography. You will cover traditional film processes and digital technology, using a variety of camera formats. You will also experience the moving image (video), Computer Aided Design (Photoshop), drawing and illustration, screen-printing, professional practice and study the History of Art. You are expected to keep a sketchbook and write reports/essays. Throughout the course you will be encouraged to enter competitions and will exhibit your work at local bars/galleries.
Key Skills in IT, Communications and Application of Number will also be involved with your weekly programme.
Its important to mention, that although you are on a photography course, you will be taught many different creative subjects along side this specialism.

Trips Residentials: The photgraphy department arrange a number of day trips to galleries and also a residential.
Throughout the year, several visiting photographers will come to the department to discuss their folios and work.

Additional Costs: You will need a manual SLR 35mm film camera at the start of the course. The course can get quite expensive, as you will need to purchase photographic film, paper, sketchbooks, folio sleeves, and general stationery. Financial assistance is available from the College†s Access Fund, Educational
Maintenance Allowance and Adult Learning Grants.
