All students will be required to have achieved a minimum of 5 A-C grades at GCSE Level including Maths and English (Science is also preferable at A-C grade)

Course Content: You will gain an insight into a variety of aspects of sport. This will include anatomy; health, safety and injuries in sport; planning and delivering sport sessions; practical sports; sport development, training and fitness, and sport and society. The course will include trips such as cycling, climbing, walking, adventure activities, stadium tours.
Special Features: Students will also be expected to purchase a sport kit, further details will be given at interview.
Course Format: The course will allow the improvement and training of interpersonal skills such as communication, teamwork, individual research and working to set deadlines. You will learn through lectures, workshops, demonstrations, guest speakers and self study.
You will be assessed via assignments and work sheets as well as practical observations and demonstrations which will allow you to learn and begin to master the many techniques of sports delivery.
Progression: Sport development, coaching and fitness are an ever expanding area in Higher Education. You will have the opportunity to progress onto career paths, a few examples being Sports Physiology and Psychology; Sport coaching, Physical Education teaching; Sports Development Research, sports studies and Media work.
